CONCETTA THE PLATE

Concetta La Placa is an Italian poet, writer and aphorist. She lives in Rome. She has worked as a lecturer at the L.U.M.S.A. University in Rome, decentralised teaching in Caltanissetta and then as a ministerial official at the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy. She is present on the international poetry scene because she has published her poems and short stories in prestigious anthologies and international magazines (OPA, Prodigy, AZAHAR, and others by various contemporary national and international authors.
Personal collections of poems:
– 2018: ‘Amor Cósmico’, small collection of five poems presented to the ‘VI Certamen Internacional de Poesía Ciudad Premio’ of Sarzana, receiving the Diploma al Mérito.
It was later incorporated into his first publication, ‘Amor cósmico y emociones al viento’ (Cosmic Love and Emotions in the Wind).
– 2021: ‘Cosmic Love and Emotions In The Wind’ (with numero internazionale 6), a collection of fifty-four poems, published on Amazon with the publishing house ‘Munir Mezyed Foundation for Arts and Culture of Romania’.
– 2022: ‘Tracimi Del Cuore’, a collection of seven poems published by the publishing house ‘Pagine’.
– 2023: ‘Emozioni Fluttuanti’, fifteen poems published by Vitale Publishing House.
– 2024: ‘Emozioni, Amore, Ricordi In Sicilia In Versi’, fifteen poems published by Vitale.

SMARRIMENTO.
So che riaffiora,
di tanto in tanto,
nella tua mente il mio nome.
Ricorderai il mio sguardo perduto nel mondo,
sempre e perennemente in cerca di te,
di quell’essenza che l’una dell’altro un di’ godemmo.
Di noi e del nostro destino cercheremo entrambi,
come anime raminghe, il senso più profondo del nostro amore,
evaporato e non più ritrovato.
Così ci siamo smarriti
in questo immenso vuoto della vita,
avvolta in un nulla silenzioso.
Torneremo forse di nuovo a cercare,
in questa nostra inclemente esistenza,
le nostre inutili parole in fuga.
Le riempiremo ancora di significato,
le nostre umide lacrime versate per dolore e debolezza
ed evaporate negli anni che son fuggiti via.
Cercheremo tra i nostri vecchi pensieri,
i nostri desideri e sogni mai avverati e le rare occasioni di gioia,
che abbiamo dipinto con il colore rosso della passione.
Faremo fatica a ritrovare tutto ciò
che abbiamo seppellito sotto strati di inutile orgoglio,
di finta indifferenza e di fredda lontananza.
Osserveremo la luna
e, ancora in lei,
i nostri cuori si rispecchieranno.
Nel suo chiarore, rischieremo di scoprire
che ciò che l’anima ha smarrito,
non potrà essere più ritrovata.
Eppure, di noi, continueranno a dire
che fummo pioggia e arcobaleno,
alba e tramonto, per l’eternità.

DISMISSAL.
I know that it resurfaces,
from time to time,
in your mind my name.
You will remember my gaze lost
in the world, always and eternally seeking you,
of that essence that of each other we once enjoyed.
Of us and our destiny we will both seek,
like wandering souls, the deepest sense of our love,
evaporated and no longer found.
Thus we are lost
in this vast emptiness of life,
shrouded in silent nothingness.
We will perhaps return again to search,
in this inclement existence of ours,
our useless fleeing words,
We will still fill them with meaning,
our wet tears shed in pain and weakness
and evaporated in the years that have fled away.
We will search through our old thoughts,
our wishes and dreams that never came true, he rare occasions of joy,
that we painted with the red color of passion.
We will struggle to find everything
we have buried under layers of useless pride,
feigned indifference and cold distance.
We will gaze at the moon
and still in it
our hearts will be mirrored.
In its glow, we will risk discovering
that what the soul has lost,
can never be found again.
Yet, of us, they will continue to say
that we were rain and rainbow,
sunrise and sunset, for eternity.
